So enjoy.

Pegwarmers is well on its way, and I think i have about %75 of the footage I need shot. So soon I will begin the long task of cutting the thin, (ack). I have about 45 hours of footgae right now, so it should work out well. Spent the weekend in Edmonton shooting some medieval guys beating the piss out of each other with swords and stuff,... Fun!. One dude cut his lip open, had to get stitches. I got it on camera,... cool.

This upcoming weekend is the big inagural Grand Prix of Edmonton. should be totally cool. Myself and a couple buddies have been going to Vancouver for years, and its nice that the race is close. Save's me a hell of a lot of cash. Check the video section for a video from one of our race weekends.

Anyways, I'll keep you informed as to whats up. Now you have to realize that I work above a recording studio, so musicians come in and out all the time. But this was the biggest tour bus I've seen here yet. So we asked who it was.

April Wine!!!

(hee)

Yup, the grand daddy of Canadian dinosaur bands was here, performing for about 45 minites for a digital radio program. OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY!. So I figured what the hell, good way to burn off an afternoon instead of working and I stayed for the the free little show. And be damned if they weren't half bad.About 80 people jammed the little recording studio, so it was pretty intimate and kinda cool. I don't really know much april Wine, kinda before my time, but of the stuff I head yesterday I thikn they are porbably much better live than they are in the studio. One of those good live acts. dude says they'e been around since '69 (yes,36 years ago) and are starting a new studio album, which will be studio album #18. Holy crap. Lotsa songs.

So Once the "concert" ended I trotted back upstaris and bumped into a co-worker. A buddy of his was in yesterday, and they mentioned that they were going to, (wait for it) WWE RAW!! . . . (hee). So we headed off to the big wrasslin' show. Now, I've never been a wrasslin fan at all, and never really had much interest in going, but figured what the hell, may as well, it's only 20 bucks.

LAME is not a big enough word to describe to you how dumb it was. Okay, I'll admit there were some entertaining parts, and the fans were getting into it, but there was only 4 matches inthe 2 hours we watched the show. FOUR. Seems like wrestling has slipped a lot since it became WWE. It was far from a sellout, and I really didn't know any of the wrestlers. Oh well, it was a night out. No Vince McMahon, and the "big guys" like Kane and Y2J didn't wrestle. weak.

Anyhoo, yeah, that was my evening. Classy. April wine and WWE. Where's my pickup?.

- Braddy's Theme -

Over the last couple of months I've been wanting to get back into making music. And after rebuilding my PC I've installed all the old favourites. Cakewalk, Adobe Audition and Jammer. I've also just installed a new bit of software called "Midi2Wave" and it does exactly that, converts midi files into wave files. So I've cut out on step in my process of creating music. I no longer have to output my music to DAT and then re-capture it. Pure digital, DDD.

Anyhoo, I've just completed my newest song, called "Braddy's Theme", and it will be one of the tracks on my new compilation "Serious Playground".

I'll upload it to the website when I get a chance. I'm gonna start working on a few other little songs this week. Should be fun. I think "Serious Playground" is going to be a little more "cool" and "ambient" and a little less tehcno-ish.

I'll keep you up to date.

The Dark Side

Well the big ubergeek night has come and gone. The new Star Wars movie premiere is now history. After all the buzz and excitement, the thing is finally being shown.

So on "Sith-Eve" I managed to drag my sorry butt and video camera out to the Paramount thetare for the midnight screening of the show, and i got some really great footage of fans doing what they do best. Lots of St wars fans there, but also a ton of sci-fi fantasy guys as well. Generally it was a good night of just plain old fashioned fandom. Lotsa fun had by all. the Theatre was PACKED, and it felt a little bit like a carnival with the atmosphere the costumers and general mayhe, surrounding the big event.

Anyhoo, a good time was had by all, and I managed to get some great footage and interviews. To be honest I was thinking about blowing off the screening but I'm glad i went. i would have missed out on some really funny stuff and really what would have been a historical night in sci-fi fandom.

All right then, it's the long weekend. off to Edmonton to hang with friends and family and havea bit of a barbecue at the folks house, and I'm also going to pull the top off my Jeep for the first time. Should be a good weekend.

This whole Blog thing

Ya know, I've come to the conclusion that my blogging skills are kinda lacking.

Okay, but not great. I think the problem is that I've never had any kind of diary or daily log or anything, so for me to put my thoughts to paper is a little bit alien. I think the blogging I have done is a shining example of that. Pretty much nothing for the most part. Just not much to say. I suck,....

I think part of the problem is that a blog is kind of a creative outlet, and I get enough creative outlet at work. So, for the most part when I'm at home on my PC I just wanna surf, veg, shoot space aliens, whatever. Thus my blogging suffers. I just don't feel like saying that much. Like right now, I'm actually struggling a bit to find something to say. That and I don't feel a paticular need to share my deepest innermost feelings online for all the world to see. Just ain't that kinda guy, ya know,.... And as for day to day stuff?, well, my life is pretty routine from day to day. If I was blogging my life it would pretty much be "got up, went to work, got home, ate, went to bed,.... repeat,...."

Whatever.

Anyhoo, I promise to try to make my blogging more interesting for the readers. Not that there are many. In fact there are probably zero. So you know, if you're reading this you're probably it . . . Nice . . .

Well that's about it for now. nothing new to tell you. I think I'm gonna watch come Law and Order SVU. I'm in the process of rebuilding my computer.

What and enourmous pain in the patookus. I bought a nice copy of XP Pro, (yes it is a legit copy, has a key and everything,... I'm no thief~!) brought it home, tried rebuilding my PC . . . . nothing . . . . Weird error message, something about a hard error. So I try again . . . nothing . . . . Another weird error message. Hummmm. is it my drives? . . . . Reformat . . . . (it's a 200 gig drive, so it takes a little while,....) Go to re-install . . . . nothing . . . . Same error message. So I decide to Install Win2000 just to see if it's the machine or the software . . . . Win2000 Installs perfectly . . . . Okay, that's good, but it also sucks. So, I decide to Install XP Pro over TOP of Win2000, since I figured maybe something was just going on weird with drivers 'n' such. Start installing XP Pro. it seems to work then . . . . BURP . . . . missing DLL. Huh ??. It's a new install. hummm (retry, abort, skip) Rety . . . Same error . . . . Skip the file. (not good) Continue the install. Hummmm. . . . . ANOTHER missing DLL . . . . (skip) . . . . a missng .exe . . . . .GRRRRRR . . . . "please restart to continue install". I restart, the machine starts installing windows . . . . ERROR, missing files, cannot continue install . . . .

I think at this point (which is two days later) I realize that this copy of XP is buggered in some way. Gotta be. This sucks.

Oh well. I'll get it going soon enough, getting a new copy of XP Pro after work and gonna install that version. If not, I dunno. I might be screwed.

I'll keep you up to date, I'm blogginh from work, but right now the patient is in critical condition.

Ocean Wanderer

Well, today was the big Canadian premier of Ocean Wanderer on Canadian TV. Ocean Wanderer is an 8 part documentary series I worked on last summer about a young family that sells everything, buys a sailboat and sails around the world for 5 years. Interesting story.

I was a little nervous since I haven't seen the show on air yet, and I am always nervous seeing a show going to air for the first time. You just never know who well the quality of a show is going to hold up for broadcast.

I was very very pleased with how well the show looked on air. It held up very very well, and OLN did a good job broadcasting it and keeping it clean.

Here's the broadcast schedule, for those of you who care.

Monday-Fri 6:00pm, 9:00pm & 10:30pm MST

Next week should probably be the same schedule.

It's already aired on FINE LIVING in the US, but as a slightly different version. (The Canadian version is actually a little bit longer, less commericals to deal with) So if you get FINE LIVING you can look for it there too. I'm pretty sure it's still airing.

Happy Viewing.

Random Photos

Here it is, the first photo from my "PDA Snapshots" collection.

Basically, they are just snapshots of the world the way I see it in my everday comings and goings. Went to a bit of a "spring fling" party hosted by another company I do business with. Seen a few people there I haven't seen in a long time, so that was really cool. And I ate some good grub. All in all a pretty good afternoon.

On Sunday I hit the old ski-hill with my dad. It was nice and sunny, but the snow was quite icy. Spring is a weird time for skiing sometimes. Really bullet proof icy conditions one minute and then really slushy the next. I spent a lot of the day on my little short twin-tip skis. Spent some time in the bumps, and some time in the pipe. I'm actually starting to understand pipe skiing. Lots of fun. Even went into the terrain park and did sort of a grind over a picnic table. Hee hee. mucho fun. I gotta do more of that.

Folks are in town,...

Heading off to the ski-hill tommorow and sunday, should be fun.

Well crap,...

I just finished writing a big entry into my blog, presse publish, and BING!!! ... 401 error.

*grumble*

And now I can't remember exactly what I said,.... crap. Sort of "the world as I see it in my travels" kind of a deal. I'll let you know how that goes.

Until then, here's a randome picture I've pulled off the internet. Thought it was cool.

More Peggy

Well, I spent most of the weekend hard at work on Pegwarmers. Met some nice folk who gave me some really great information and some nice interviews. Saturday I was at Chinook and Hobby west at about 6:30 am to get footage of the hordes descending on the new Star Wars toys. Lotsa people buying Lotsa plastic. Rob (the owner) was good enough to let me interview him that day as well. And I also interviewed a few purchasers as well. Pretty good stuff. Sunday was equally cool. I spent the afternoon at Crossroads flea market, where I interviewd Tim, cool older gent who knows a hell of a lot about toys 'n' such. He has a great little place there, so if you're on the lookout for collectible toys, give 'em a shout. I also interviewed a couple of other folks who were making purchases. So yeah, all in all a good day.

I'm looking to start cuttig something soon, so as that goe, I'll keep you all informed.

Stay tuned,....

Wednesday

Humpday .... Middle of the week ... Joy.

Actually he weekend wasn't bad. It was Easter so I went skiing with th eold man in Banff. Lotsa snow, but it was purtty darned cold. Spring Skiing and I got a bit of frostbite. Go figure.

This weekend I will likely be shooting some more documentary footage, hopefully that goes well. The show is coming together okay. had some good inerviews and some good B-roll footage at the last event, so now I need to start actually cutting something together. Hummmm,.... post-production. Fun.

What else is happeneing?, honestly, not very much. Nothing at all in fact. life just keeps on marching along. Work, Eat, Sleep, Work, Eat Sleep,... You get the idea. Routine sucks. Oh well.

All right, back to work for me. Apologies for he boring blog. Just don't have a hell of a lot to say today is all. It was actually quite interesting. Lots of folks were there, looking at and buying various toys and comics, vontage and otherwise.

This weekend was the first footage that I have shot for the collecting portion of my documentary, and it went better than expected. Shane was a fountain of knowledge, and the toy show was back drop to a lot of great stuff and quite a few interesting standups and interviews. Also, Erin was a great interview, and she gave a nice female perspective of the whol collectin costumeing universe.

Also, I gotta thank my buddy Kim who was helping me out on the weekend. We haven;t seen eachother since we gradumactaed from College abut 16 years ago, so it was good seeing him again. Oddly enough, we were tlaking abotu people we have and haven;t seen since college, and about 5 minutes after that conversation we looked over and noticed ANOTHER buddy of ours from school, Dave Hermary who runs a toy shop in Red Deer, an was at the toy show looking at Comics. Funny how that works.

So yup, pegwarmers is going good, and hopefullly I'll start cutting some stuff for it soon.

Stay tuned....

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Top of the day to yee, and hopin' ya have a great and memorable St. Patrick's Day!. Just so you know.)
______________________________________
I HATE Telus, (my local phone provider). I keep getting these stinking phone calls from them once every few months, asking me about my phone service. "how is your long distance?, do you need a long distance package?, would you like a high speed internet service package?,... etc., etc.,... They call and say it's a "friendly service call" but in essence, it's really just a big telemarketing scheme. (And it's ALWAYS at dinner time,...)

And the service SUCKS. Several months back, I was checking my bill when I noticed a two month charge for call display,... I never ordered call display, I don't have a call display phone, I don't need call display. So I phone Telus and ask them to cancel it. They want to charge me for DISCONNECTING a service that I had never ordered, and had been charged for two months AND installation. (nice scam ya got going guys,... Bill me four times for something I never ordered.) This has happened to me MORE than a couple of times, with call display and call forwarding. I never asked for services, but was billed for them. *grrrrrrr*

Fortunately I managed to get TELUS to NOT charge me for those services, and give me a credit fo the billing.

The other one I love with these so called "friendly updates" is when I get a call from TELUS asking me about my Long distance, and If ia need a package. When I say no, they always say "lets check last months long distance bill,..." So they check it, and al yo uhear on the other end o the phone is silence when the guy realizes I had 3 minutes of long distance last month, that added up to .30 cents. ".... ummm, I guess you don't need a long distance package,..."

Jeez, ya think?...

TELUS, nope, no sir, not my favourite company on the planet.

________________________________
UPDATE

Since I last posted this message, I emailed TELUS and complained about them calling me all the time. I recieved an email reply which confirmed my suspicions. Telus replied back (I'm paraphrasing a bit) "Thank you for your input. Telus has removed you from our MARKETING list, and yo uwill no longer recieve these phone calls,..."

They actually used the words "marketing list" ... I KNEW IT! ... Proof positive ...

Oh well, all said and done, I won't be getting any more pain in th butt calls from TELUS.

Moving on.

Crazy people

Just setting up some interviews for my documentary, and I have met a guy named Shane Turgeon who is an authority on the toy collecting thing. He sounds like a cool and informative guy, so I'm looking forward to meeting and interviewing him.

He also has had some pretty serious ink done (tattoos, for you un-hip squares) mostly of G.I. Joe stuff, so I'll be asking him abuot that as well. one his website, www.toysandtatoos.com he has photos of guys that have done somre pretty outlandish Star Wars and other tattoos. Take a look, amazing. Now THOSE guys are hardcore fans.

With a little luck, I'll be able to get a couple of those guys on tape as well, and have them in the show.

Man, the people are really starting to come out of the woodwork for this thing.
